El Portland International Raceway es el anfitrión del primer E-Prix Portland. El circuito permanente es una pista clásica del automovilismo estadounidenses como la serie IndyCar, donde se han dado batallas memorables como la de 1997 donde Mark Blundell venció a Gil de Ferran y Raúl Boesel por media décima de segundo.
El Raceway llegó a existir oficialmente en la década de 1970 pero la pista se convirtió en hogar para el automovilismo profesional en 1975 cuando la Serie Trans-Am comenzó a competir allí, y en las décadas que siguieron, IndyCar y la NASCAR Truck Series siguieron su ejemplo. La pista vio una desaceleración significativa en la competencia durante los años 2000 y 2010, pero ha sido revivido como un codiciado lugar de carreras para IndyCar y la NASCAR Xfinity Series en los últimos años. Ahora, la Fórmula E está lista para unirse a la larga lista de prestigiosas series que golpean el pavimento de PIR, y la serie está lista para hacer historia como la primera carrera totalmente eléctrica de la pista.
